A New Moon Ritual for Intention & Beginning Again
The new moon is subtle. Quiet. Easy to miss.
It doesn’t arrive with light — it arrives with potential. This is a time I associate with beginnings that haven’t taken shape yet, intentions that are still fragile and forming.
My new moon rituals are slow by design. I treat this phase as an invitation, not a demand.
✨ My Simple New Moon Ritual
1. Set the tone
I dim the lights, light a candle, and give myself permission to slow down.
2. Check in
Instead of asking what I want to achieve, I ask:
What do I want to nurture? What kind of energy do I want to move with this cycle? What feels possible right now?
3. Set gentle intentions
I write 1–3 intentions, keeping them flexible and compassionate. These aren’t promises — they’re directions.
4. Rest
Often, the ritual ends with rest. The new moon reminds me that beginnings don’t require immediate action.
Intentions need darkness. They need space. They need time.
Hi, I’m Kylee — the voice behind The Rooted Witch. I’m someone who feels deeply, moves intuitively, and is learning how to live a softer life in a world that often rewards the opposite. I don’t have all the answers, and I’m not here to pretend that I do. What I have is a deep respect for slowness, honesty, and the quiet wisdom that comes from listening inward. I’m drawn to healing that feels gentle and grounded — the kind that honors the body, the nervous system, and the seasons we move through. My witchcraft reflects that. It’s intuitive, earthy, and woven into everyday life rather than performed. It lives in small rituals, tending spaces, caring for others, and learning how to care for myself with the same tenderness. I created The Rooted Witch because I was craving community — a place for like-minded souls who want a soft place to land. A space where thoughts and feelings don’t have to be polished, where becoming is allowed to be messy, and where healing doesn’t require urgency. Here, I share reflections from my life, my struggles, my ideas, and my ongoing practice of living gently. This blog is a journal, a hearth, and an open door — an offering for anyone who feels tired, tender, or in transition. I’m glad you found your way here.
